Mipsy Tales

Issue 1: The Girl on the Train
PAGE 1 – COVER
Mipsy leans against a train window with a small smile. A coffee cup sits nearby with "Mipsy" handwritten on it. Walter stands beside her holding a folded map and looking mildly concerned.
The train races beneath a twilight sky.
Unknown to Walter, a faint purple glow peeks from beneath Mipsy's sleeve.

Probably?

The train seems confident.
Walter sighs.

Mipsy wanders through train cars.
She meets:
-
A nervous musician.

An elderly woman knitting.

A father traveling with his daughter.
She asks everyone questions.
Walter follows.

You don't know any of these people.
MIPSY:
Not yet.

The musician practices quietly.
Mipsy listens.
MUSICIAN:
I have a show tonight.

Excited?

Terrified.

Good.

Good?
MIPSY:
That means it matters.

Walter finally gets coffee.
Mipsy notices a tiny station approaching.
MIPSY:
Can we get off?
WALTER:
No.
MIPSY:
What if it's interesting?
WALTER:
It's a building in the desert.
MIPSY:
Exactly.
PAGE 7
Small station stop.
They have ten minutes.
Walter reluctantly follows.
The station appears forgotten by time.
PAGE 8
Inside the station.
Old photographs line the walls.
One picture shows travelers from decades ago.
A handwritten note beneath it reads:
"Every traveler leaves something behind."
Mipsy stares.
PAGE 9
Walter notices her expression.
WALTER:
You okay?
MIPSY:
Just thinking.
WALTER:
About what?
MIPSY:
How many stories disappear.
PAGE 10
Back aboard the train.
The old station pulls away.
Mipsy sketches something in a notebook.
Walter notices dozens of previous sketches.
People.
Places.
Moments.
PAGE 11
WALTER:
You draw all of these?
MIPSY:
I don't want to forget them.
WALTER:
You've never shown me this.
MIPSY:
You never asked.

WALTER:
You planned this.
MIPSY:
Nope.
WALTER:
Then how did this happen?
MIPSY:
People usually want permission to be brave.
PAGE 15
Later.
The father and daughter thank Mipsy.
The elderly woman shares stories of traveling decades ago.
The train feels alive.
PAGE 16
Sunset.
Orange and gold light fills the train.
Walter looks out the window.
WALTER:
You know, I thought this trip was about Los Angeles.
MIPSY:
That's because you're looking ahead.
WALTER:
And you?
MIPSY:
I'm looking around.
PAGE 17
The lights of Los Angeles begin appearing in the distance.
Passengers prepare to leave.
The musician smiles.
He feels ready.
PAGE 18
Walter folds up his map.
WALTER:
We barely did anything.
MIPSY laughs.
MIPSY:
We did tons of things.
WALTER:
Name one.
MIPSY:
We made a musician less scared.
WALTER:
Fair.
MIPSY:
We found a forgotten station.
WALTER:
Fair.
MIPSY:
You smiled twice.
WALTER:
That doesn't count.
PAGE 19

Everyone says goodbye.
The train empties.

WALTER:
Where are we staying?
MIPSY:
No idea.
WALTER:
You planned nothing.
MIPSY:
I planned the important part.
WALTER:
Which is?
MIPSY:
Showing up.
PAGE 21
Walter laughs despite himself.
For the first time he seems genuinely excited.
They disappear into the crowd.
PAGE 22

Not yet.
